Broken Camera

Thu Jun 26, 2008, 8:12 AM
All right guys. My brother broke my Canon Rebel XT. I'm thinking about getting the Canon 30D. What do you guys think? I know I never write journals but I need some advice here. I'm planning to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta which is pricey and move out. Should I wait while I'm in school or get the 30D now?

My parents still think I may switch from Canon to Nikon so they want me to let my brother pay 235 to repair my camera, and play with the cameras at school before I decide. But I work at best buy and play with camera's all day. I don't know. They do have a point though. The way I'm looking at it though is I already bought my XT for 700 a year ago, and throwing 235 more into it means 935 dollars has been spent on this little camera I could only sell for about 300 now.

So I could take the 235 and use it towards something better. Get out of my plastic body, up to 5fps, and feel better about myself. hahah. So fix the XT or get the 30d?

lets see, first of all, i think you can get more than $300 from your XT...also, i dont think you should fix it when you can get something better...I love keeping stuff and you should make ur brother pay to fix it and let it remain within ur household...I'll suggest you consider the Rebel XSi or the Canon 40D. I have the 40D and it is AMAZING!!! A friend just bought the XSi and its also FANTASTIC...wait till you get into school so that you'll know exactly what you want and what will fit your workflow better!!! :-)

Definitely the XSi. Or, if you wanna splurge, go for the 5D. But in truth the XSi has more than enough beef to do what we do. The XT is two models old anyway--it's providence if you ask me.

And cut your brothers hands off.

i wouldn't fix it. the technology evolves to fast. We spend a lot of money in it and in a half year it is a old camera. here are two links which helped me a lot to find the right camera and lens.
